How To Make Any Country Or Region A Direct Democracy

The ideal way for a country to become a Direct Democracy is to amend its constitution but that’s obviously very difficult so let’s talk about how Direct Democracy can emerge organically without amending the constitution.

There are two ways this can happen in any democratic country anywhere in the world:

1. Existing political parties could convert to Direct Democracy parties. This won’t happen in the short term because these parties are run by people that want power and converting their party to a Direct Democracy party eliminates all of that power. However, I predict that this will happen in the future when political parties that operate under a Representative Democracy framework start to fade away. Some of these parties will convert to Direct Democracy in order to survive. 

2. The best way for Direct Democracy to emerge organically in government is to start a new independent party that operates with a Direct Democracy framework.

If a political party runs as a Direct Democracy party and they win an election then the members of government of that party will ask their constituents to let them know how they should vote on any new laws or policies. 

So, if this party effectively controls government, then this government will effectively operate as a Direct Democracy.

The reality is that we have reached a point in time in our evolution where Representative Democracy no longer serves the will of the people and technology can solve the problems that made Direct Democracy impractical.

That’s why I created One Direct Democracy. It’s a movement for upgrading the global democratic system by taking the power away from politicians and putting it in the hands of the people by using Direct Democracy.

Direct Democracy is the purest form of democracy. Representative Democracy is an outdated blunt instrument.
